Car, Christmas, Pennsylvania

So, how am I getting to Pennsylvania for Christmas?

I have a car, a home near Phila, and space.

Do I have an extra pair of hands for driving?

Chattanooga to Pennsylvania is a one day trip. Why not just go alone?

Well, I thought about that. I've never driven more than 6 hours by myself though. I appreciate your belief that I could do 12 alone, though. :) D'you think so?

If it were possible and not so very inconvenient, I would lend my pair of hands for the drive seeing as I am flying. Circumstances being what they -- its just not possible :(

The only people I can think of who are still at Covenant and yet maintain residences in Pennsylvannia and who might possibly want a ride or be interested in caravaning would be alneff or evand. Try them?

I don't really know you, but if you're intrepid enough to go to Covenant and finish, you must be pretty tough. Why not try it? It could be a great adventure. And that much time alone is suprisingly good for the soul. There's nothing to do but drive. Just getting there is the point...and on the way, you can pray, meditate, or whatever. I love long trips.

I found, when I started driving loooong trips, that taking a little stretch/walk break every 1.5-2 hours was great.

When I got really tired, too sleepy to drive more, I pulled over to a gas station or somewhere and took a 10 minute nap. Sounds weird, but it works.

Keep yourself from getting dehydrated. Drink something a lot. Then go to the bathroom as often as you need (duh, but sometimes you just want to drive 15 more minutes).

If you're tired of caffeine, drink a fruit juice for the sugar.

Study the highways of any cities before you get there.

Call people and talk on your cellphone.

Listen to books on tape (or get a whole sermon series from someone you want to listen to--there are tons of good preachers online) and 'read' while you drive.

Why not try it?

If you do end up driving solo, I've got a bunch of sermons downloaded already and could make a couple CDs of them for you - a Scottish pastor preaching through selected psalms, or a few sermons by Tim Keller (PCA pastor in NYC), or Randy Nabors, or Kip Slawter (my church's former assistant pastor). Let me know.
